It is more important to click with people than to click the shutter.’
Albert Eisenstaedt

I’m Steve, a Dorset-based photographer specialising in natural headshots, brand photography and people-focused imagery that captures genuine moments and real personality.

I create photographs about people, not just of them — whether that’s a business owner needing relaxed headshots, a team at work, a performer on stage, or someone simply wanting portraits that feel authentic and unforced. My aim is always the same: to tell a visual story that feels honest, human and full of character.

My interest in photography began when I was 13, after my parents bought me a Kodak Ektra 12 camera for a school trip. It wasn’t a great camera, but it sparked something in me. I quickly learned that while equipment helps, it’s observation, timing and connection that really make a photograph. That idea still underpins everything I do today.

Before any shoot, I take time to understand the person or business I’m working with — what they need the images for, and how they want to be seen. This helps create a relaxed, collaborative environment where people feel comfortable in front of the camera. In my experience, that comfort is what leads to natural, engaging images.

While my main focus is now business headshots and brand photography, I still work across portraits, events, music and sport. Each has shaped the way I work — observant, unobtrusive, and focused on capturing real moments as they happen.

Outside of photography, I enjoy live music, sport, and time with friends and family. I’m also a committed coffee enthusiast, always on the lookout for independent coffee shops wherever I go. I’m not much of a drinker, though I do appreciate the occasional single malt whisky.

If my approach feels like the right fit for you or your business, I’d love to hear from you.

‘We are incredibly grateful to Steve for covering our event in Freemasons’ Hall, London with our Patron, Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, and with over 100 guests in attendance. Steve was very knowledgeable about issues we should consider from a photography perspective, which enabled us to check them before the event itself, helping things to run as smoothly as possible. His attention to detail meant that no opportunity was missed during the evening. Steve calmly, discreetly and professionally took photos of HRH The Princess Royal, our CEO, speakers, partners and our guests which helped everyone to feel at complete ease, and as a result we received high quality images that captured the atmosphere of the evening perfectly.
