Frequently Asked Questions
Booking a photoshoot shouldn’t feel complicated. Whether you’re excited, nervous, full of ideas, or not quite sure where to start, you’ll probably find the answer to your question below. And if you don’t, just get in touch — I’ll be happy to help.
After all, every great photoshoot starts with a conversation.
What happens if I've never had professional photos taken before?
That’s completely normal. Most of my clients aren’t models and don’t spend their weekends posing for cameras. I’ll guide you throughout the session, help you feel comfortable, and focus on capturing natural expressions rather than awkward poses.
What should I wear for my photoshoot?
The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and like yourself. Solid colours tend to work well, and it’s usually best to avoid large logos or very busy patterns. Once you’ve booked, I’m happy to offer advice based on the type of shoot you’ve chosen.
Where do photoshoots take place?
Most sessions take place outdoors at a location that suits the style you’re looking for. This could be a favourite local spot, a countryside location, a beach, or somewhere that means something to you. Business headshots can be taken at your workplace or another suitable location.
How long will it take to receive my photos?
Business headshots and business packages are usually delivered within 5 working days. Personal sessions are typically delivered within 1–2 weeks, depending on the season and editing workload.
How will I receive my images?
Your edited photographs will be delivered through a private online gallery where you can view, download, and share your images.
Can I purchase additional images?
Yes. If you’d like more photographs than are included in your package, additional edited images can be purchased separately. Pricing will be provided when your gallery is delivered.
Do you travel outside of Dorset?
Absolutely. Travel within 30 miles of North Dorset is included in most packages. For locations further away, a small mileage charge may apply, which will always be agreed in advance.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If we’re planning an outdoor shoot and the weather isn’t suitable, we’ll simply rearrange for another date at no extra cost. A little cloud often makes for beautiful photographs, but heavy rain is a different story.
What if my children won't sit still?
As a parent myself, I know that children rarely perform on command. The good news is they don’t need to. Some of the best photographs happen when children are simply being themselves. I’ll work around their energy and personality rather than expecting them to pose perfectly.
Can my dog come along?
Of course. I love dogs. Dogs are family too, and they’re often far better at posing than their owners! Just let me know beforehand so we can choose a suitable location.
Can you help us choose a location?
Absolutely. If you already have somewhere in mind, that’s great. If not, I can suggest locations that suit the style you’re after, whether that’s countryside, woodland, coast, town, or something a little different.
We don't fit neatly into one of your packages. What should we do?
No problem. The packages on this page are designed to cover the most common types of shoot, but not every idea fits into a neat box. If you’re planning something unusual, need a different combination of services, or simply aren’t sure what’s best, get in touch and we’ll create something that works for you.
How do I book?
Simply get in touch through the contact form, email, or phone. We’ll have a quick chat about what you’re looking for, choose a suitable package, and arrange a date. A £50 deposit secures your booking.
Can I buy a photoshoot as a gift?
Yes. Gift vouchers are available for all photography packages and make wonderful presents for birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, or special occasions.
Do you photograph weddings?
I currently focus on portraits, families, personal branding, and small business photography. If you’re planning a small, intimate wedding or elopement, feel free to get in touch and we can discuss your requirements.
Can I use the images on social media?
Of course. All delivered images can be shared across your personal social media channels. Business clients are also welcome to use their images on websites, LinkedIn, and marketing materials unless otherwise agreed.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens. If you need to reschedule, please let me know as soon as possible and I’ll do my best to find an alternative date. Deposits are non-refundable but can usually be transferred to a new booking date with reasonable notice.
Do you retouch photos?
Every image you receive is professionally edited for colour, contrast, and overall presentation using the latest professional image editing software. I can also remove temporary blemishes where appropriate, but I aim to keep people looking like themselves rather than creating heavily edited or artificial-looking images.
We have a slightly bonkers idea for a photoshoot. Can you help?
I love working on creative and unusual projects. Whether it’s something heartfelt, humorous, themed, adventurous, or completely off the wall, I’d much rather hear your idea than stick to the same photoshoot over and over again. Photography should be fun, personal, and a reflection of who you are. If you’ve got an idea that makes you smile, there’s a good chance I’ll be excited about it too. Drop me a message and let’s see where it takes us.
I'm not very photogenic. Can you help?
Absolutely. In fact, that’s probably the most common thing people tell me before a photoshoot. My job isn’t to photograph models—it’s to photograph real people. I’ll help you feel comfortable, guide you when needed, and create natural images that genuinely reflect who you are.
